Pomo Food History

1979

Established in Broumana – Lebanon, POMO FOOD has been in the food industry business since 1979. POMO FOOD manufactured at this time natural potato chips, extruded snacks and fried potato pallets.

1984

In 1984, POMO FOOD after researches and studies has been very much interested in healthy food market and a new division was created producing nutritious products such as puffed rice cakes, corn cakes and puffed wheat cakes, selling it to supermarkets, mini markets and dietary shops. POMO FOOD was a pioneer in this field.
These new items were introduced in the Lebanese market by end of 1984.

1994

POMO FOOD had to wait till 1994 because of the severe war that ravaged the country, to go further and seek for new interesting sectors. Its researches showed that different taste, exotic taste, coming from a faraway part of the world would bring a big change to people finding pleasure in what they are eating… Corn chips and Corn tortilla were introduced then in Lebanese hotels, restaurants and pubs, and did realize a booming just a year after its launching; which encouraged the company to go further in this field and added a new item to this line of production.

1996

Early 1996 Flour Tortilla was launched in this same sector and obtained an equal result.

2000

In 2000, POMO FOOD realized that its first products meaning natural potato chips, extruded snacks and fried potato pallets, were losing shares in the market and took the decision to shut down this division and to extend and to improve the existing ones.

2008

In early 2008, POMO FOOD started implementing the international good manufacturing procedure (GMP) to its product line, and in the mid of that same year, POMO FOOD acquired the ISO 22000:2005 certificate which is still held till this date.

STRATEGY

In line with the outline strategy and vision of the company, POMO FOOD decided to implement a food safety management system ISO 22000:2005 in 2007, in this regard all the requirements of the standard are implemented in the production of all of our products including continuous training of staff and system improvement on a regular basis.

Furthermore, the Company is being evaluated and improved by periodical audits (externally & internally), to ensure its ongoing conformity to the stated Food Safety Policy of this organization.

VISION

Since it started POMO FOOD made sure to ensure the best quality product, so it pre-selects its raw ingredients according to international standards. As a result reaching the best quality products to achieve customer’s satisfaction especially that POMO FOOD valuable customers are being informed about the standards in place through labeling and advertising.
